Most organizations have developed a shared lingo that is exclusive to their culture. It tends to develop organically over time and becomes so ingrained, that people within the organization may forget that the language is exclusive to that culture. FRCS is no different. As a resource to families, we created a list of some of the commonly used words or phrases that you may hear or read, along with definitions or links. Admin Offices
This refers to the administration area of FRCS, which is separate from the individual campus offices. Here you’ll find the Admissions Office, Business Office, Community Relations Office, etc. Unlike the campus offices, the Admin Offices are open year round (except the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day). These offices are located just south of the Elementary, in suite A-17. See campus map
Alley Cats Garden & Picnic Area
Refers to the early childhood education center’s exclusive playground and outdoor learning area just north of the ECE* building. See campus map
AWE Program
Refers to the Adventure and Wilderness Experiences (AWE) program that exists to use outdoor experiences to develop a student’s character. If you have questions, please email Jeremy Wall at .

Commons or The Commons
Refers to the southwest area of the jr/sr high campus. It is an open area where students eat lunch and where those in our community can gather (outside school hours) in more social contexts. See campus map
Culinary Arts Center
Refers to the cooking classroom located between Holy Grounds* and the Genesis Center*. Cooking electives are available to senior high students with occasional DEEP*, J-Term, and summer camp options, as well. See campus map

DEEP
The Dynamic Elementary Electives Program (DEEP) is a unique offering of the elementary school. learn more here
dGroups
dGroups are the name for FRCS’s discipleship groups at the junior high and senior high levels. learn more about discipleship at FRCS
DLDs
Digital Learning Day(s) — these are days of asynchronous learning for students. They count as school days, but lessons are prepared in advance by teachers for students to utilize on their own, outside of school. DLDs require students have access to the internet, but can be completed on nearly any connected device. Lessons may include videos, homework, worksheets, etc. and require that assignments be completed and turned in (often before or upon returning to school).
Instituted during the COVID-19 pandemic, the school still utilizes DLDs in special circumstances, such as around Thanksgiving, to provide flexibility to families in traveling while still meeting learning requirements.

ECE
ECE is the acronym for the early childhood education program at FRCS; the program includes preschool, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten. learn more about the program
Elementary Activity Room (EAR)
A multi-purpose room in the upper level of the elementary just behind Holy Grounds Café.

Falcon Field
The FRCS football and soccer field located just south east of the junior and senior high campus (across Marshall St). see campus map
Fearless or Fearless the Falcon
Fearless is the name of FRCS’s falcon mascot. Fearless is represented both as an image for print and digital purposes (shown below) and as a costumed character for live events. The Fearless name was selected by Elementary students through a nomination and voting process.
FRCS Times or the Times
Weekly email newsletter sent to parents each Friday, except the Friday between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

G4G (Generosity for Generations)
Generosity for Generations (aka G4G) is the annual fundraising auction and parent community event used to raise money for the Timothy Fund at FRCS.
Genesis Center

Holy Grounds Café
FRCS’s coffee shop and gathering area, most often referred to simply as “Holy Grounds”. The Café offers a full battery of coffee drinks, snacks, and food. It is open to the public on school days until about 10am. Elementary students also each lunch in this space, and FRCS often holds meetings here. Some high school dances are also hosted in the Café. see campus map

J-Term
Short for “January Term,” this is the first week in January for junior and senior high students in which they have the opportunity to take unique courses that appeal to their specific interests. learn more here

Lower Playground
The play area located south of the Elementary, Admin, and Homeschool building (it runs from the church parking lot south to the fence). see campus map

Mac Lab
A specialized classroom located behind Holy Grounds Café* (west side) that is fitted with several computers and other technology equipment. Some elective classes for senior high students are held here, such as videography and computer programming.
Middle School Sports
While FRCS has a junior high program (grades 7-8) as opposed to a middle school program, the schools against which we compete are often middle schools (typically grades 6-8). The Nest (upper and lower)
Common areas in the Elementary (one is upstairs and one is downstairs); students may spend time here studying outside the classroom or collaborating on group projects.

PAC
Refers to the performing arts center; it is the auditorium, located in the junior/senior high campus, where chapel, concerts, dramatic productions, large meetings, and other events occur. see campus map
Parent Dashboard
A section of the FRCS website that provides easy access to information specifically for parents of students who are enrolled at Front Range Christian School. It may also be helpful for students, staff, and others within the FRCS community. see the Parent Dashboard

RaiseRight
A program in which parents can buy gift cards for things they would normally buy and have a portion of the cost go to offset tuition. learn more about the program (This program was renamed in the spring of 2022; it was formerly known as Scrip or ShopWithScrip)
RISE
Short for Resource-based, Individualized Special Education; learn more about the program here (this program was renamed RISE over the summer of 2022; it was formerly known as TLC)

Short for Student Leadership Coalition; similar to student council at other schools; there are two divisions, one for junior high and one for senior high

Thanksgiving Gathering
An annual event to which the entire school (students, parents, staff, alumni, etc.) is invited; it typically takes place the Wednesday preceding Thanksgiving Day, and includes a time of praise and worship and a community breakfast
Timothy Fund
The general fund at FRCS, primarily used to advance the mission of the school; learn more here

Warming Kitchen
Refers to the very basic kitchen area between the PAC* and Commons* where lunches or concessions might be served.
Retired Phrases
These are words and phrases that people in our community still commonly use, although the name of the service has changed. It can take a while for these to fully transition to their new name, so you may still hear these used around campus:
- Nature’s Table: Refers to the old cooking classroom on campus. The classroom has been moved and renamed the FRCS Culinary Arts Center (Nature’s Table was the name of the tenant who used that space to provide adult cooking classes several years ago).
- RenWeb: This refers to FACTS SIS and the Family Portal (more info); RenWeb was acquired by FACTS in 2014, with the name change following a few years later.
- Scrip: short for ShopWithScrip, this fundraising platform changed its name to RaiseRight in May 2022. learn more about the RaiseRight program here
