Danny Cometto is the Chairman of the Board for Front Range Christian School.
If you have followed the news lately, you have likely seen stories about school boards across the country. Whatever your thoughts on the purpose of education, it is clear many school boards are beholden to a national agenda instead of prioritizing the parents who entrust their children to them. The Front Range Christian School Board is very different and works with parents to remain the heart of the school.
Our school board is a policy governance board. We produce policies that define what our school will accomplish for whom (the Ends), and within what limitations we must operate (the Limitations). We also define our relationship to the Head of School, David Cooper, delegating the accomplishment of the Ends within the Limitations. In creating these policies, our school board specifically states that “the job of the board is to represent the families of the school in determining and requiring accomplishment of the school’s mission.” We exist to serve you.
Currently 8 men and women sit on the Front Range Christian School Board. Together we are reading and discussing A.W. Tozer books in our devotions. Starting with The Attributes of God, we as a Board seek to understand what we can about our incomprehensible God. If we are His stewards, we need to represent His character. By seeking to understand who God is, God has blessed us as a board in our ability to serve him and to serve you. Now we are discussing The Pursuit of God and how to apply what we yearn to do in our personal walk with God to the Board’s walk with God. We are God’s stewards whom He has placed in a position to lead FRCS.
Of course, as the Board of Directors of a corporation, we have a legal responsibility for the school. But we are far more responsible to God in our leadership of the school than to the state. Our mission and vision, the reason for our founding, is a ministry to which God has called us. Creating and protecting the culture that God has ordained for Front Range Christian School distinguishes us from every other school I know. Our partnership with you is not optional.
We as a board are excited as we see everything God is doing throughout our school. As I read “A word from…” articles each week, my spirits lift at the insights of our community and the love that permeates us. Thank you for being part of our community. If I can ever answer questions or provide information about your FRCS School Board, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. We are partners in this together.
