Our culture is a mess. We are surrounded by a society painted in a relativistic gray that enables anyone willing to shout loud enough to insist their “opinion” is “truth”. Confusion reigns as king in this swirling pool of vacuous arguments. It rules with such impunity that as a society, we have lost the ability to define gender, acknowledge the rights of parents in the lives of their children, or even condemn barbaric acts without placating qualifiers. All of these are the festering outcomes of a culture with a spinning secular moral compass.
But there is hope.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we have all that is needed to redeem the culture around us. We hold the Truth that can bring calm to the waters and set twirling compass needles to true north. But possession of that Truth is not enough; we must send it forth.
This is why we are driven to produce graduates who are culture makers for Christ. Individuals who do more than consume, critique, and condemn the culture around them. They understand the power they possess to be instruments of change and creators of culture—those who have the courage to face opposition with love, firmness, and faith.
Yes, they see the mess around them—much like Abraham acknowledged his age as he received God’s promise—but they see it with faith-filled eyes of hope. Knowing that the Spirit in them is greater than he who is in the world. Let each of us step out confidently and be the culture makers that Jesus Christ calls us to be….because our culture is a mess, and we possess the answer.
