The Best Kept Secret at FRCS
My name is Geoff Eliason. I have a daughter, Emma, who is a junior at FRCS, and son, Logan, who is a freshman at FRCS. My wife, Lisa, and I have enjoyed over five years of involvement at FRCS ranging from the classroom to building community with other FRCS families, J-term, theater, music, and athletics. It has been an honor to also serve on the FRCS Board for the past three years. Our family is all-in on FRCS and everything it stands for. I want to share the best kept secret at FRCS: the Performance Training Center. Many will recognize this as the weights room.
For 37 years, I have been active in the sport of Olympic weightlifting as an athlete and coach in addition to training athletes using athletic development tools and weights ranging from elementary age to professional athletes and Olympians. I have spent a lot of time in weight rooms of all shapes and sizes. The FRCS performance center is on par with the best facilities I have enjoyed. Coach Lowe has done a masterful job equipping the facility to serve every individual and their unique needs. As you walk through those hallowed doors, you step in to the closest thing to paradise this side of heaven. You find platforms that allow for Olympic movements—the most explosive exercises designed to build power output. You can cozy up to the squat rack where gravity is defied by squatting, pressing, pulling, dipping, and lunging. This is where strength is gained in the muscles, the bones, the heart, the mind, and the soul. Coach Lowe promotes foreign diplomacy with FRCS students and staff through kettle bell training, a staple among Russians and former Soviet Republics. Dumbbells as far as the eye can see promote stability and strength for both the upper and lower body. There is also an expansive open space where speed, agility, coordination, spatial awareness, and jumping are performed and perfected. I guarantee you that these are the same tools and drills you find the Broncos, Nuggets, Rapids, and Avs performing throughout the year. The tools of the trade can be had by all from Mama Payne to Jack Edwards as we each journey to realize our God-given potential.
The Performance Training Center is a crown jewel for FRCS. But wait…It gets better! The best part of the Performance Training Center is that it is for every one of our students—whether they aspire to be the best in the world or struggle to walk and chew gum. Miss Hammons will promise you that the laws of gravity discriminate against no one and a kilo is a kilo is a kilo (on earth). Coach Lowe will passionately tell you that all students should use the Performance Training Center. It is a sanctuary for those who set out to steward the mind, body, and soul we have been made responsible for. Reach out to Coach Lowe to learn more about the athletic development programs, general training, and the Olympic Weightlifting Club.
The secret is out. Everyone needs to know how special FRCS is, and the Performance Training Center is just one more thing that makes FRCS the best.
