As the first quarter of the school year comes to an end, you have heard from many of my peers each Friday. While our roles, titles, experience, and gifts vary, one thing brings us together— our mission, which guides the actions and prayers of every staff member on this campus.
While many of my co-laborers in Christ come to FRCS with different backgrounds in education and teaching, I joined FRCS in 2001 as a craftsman, builder, and businessman. I’ve had the privilege of seeing God’s hand move actively upon FRCS for the past 21 years. As the Director of Operations, I oversee all of our school’s construction projects, building maintenance, and business functions like our finance office, tenant leases, and more. I love what I do because I see no greater purpose than serving God thru building the Kingdom, quite literally as the hands of Christ.
When FRCS moved from a local church to a shopping center in 2001, we took over a business complex with the vacant Cooper 7 movie theater, a restaurant, a consignment shop, real estate office, mortgage broker, assorted offices and a lot of vacant space. As you look around our campus, you’ve likely noticed that we still have destination-businesses providing services to the surrounding community and FRCS families. We have been 100% occupied for the last 8 years!
You may be asking yourself, or perhaps you’re one of the many who have asked me, “Why do we have businesses on campus? Is FRCS a school located in a business park or a business park with a school in it?”
Over the years, many tenants have come and gone in this complex previously known as Pierce Street Village. While the signage and occupants have changed, one thing has not— this unique business model that provides a tangible benefit to our tenants…and to YOU! The income from the space the school leases out helps us keep the cost of tuition down and does double-duty by allowing the rent we receive to build and advance the Kingdom of God.
By offering rental space to mission-minded, Christian-owned and/or operated businesses, we are able to reduce the tuition costs for every student. Between the revenue generated from tenants and expenses covered, tuition is reduced by $1,000+ for every full-time student at FRCS.
This business model has been recognized by ACSI and other Christian schools and has helped our school survive many financial bumps like the recession of 2008 and COVID-19. As Littleton’s only preschool through 12th grade Christian school, we have seen other area schools come and go since FRCS started in 1994. God continues to bless our community with opportunities to grow and supplies all we need to continue His Kingdom’s work.
The tenants on our campus are all connected to FRCS in some manner. Many are parents of current students, Board members, and those who share in our mission. I encourage you to stop in and say hello and support them with your patronage. See a list of current tenants on the Front Range Christian School campus
