“He took him outside and said ‘Look up at the sky and count the stars—If indeed you can count them.’ Then he said him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’” ~ Genesis 15:5
As Eva and I approached FRCS this week, I saw the electric sign inviting readers to invest in their kid’s future by enrolling. I thought about the fact the last few years have brought about more comments stating that we have to be closer to the end of times than at any point in history. These are common statements that can be voiced by anyone with a passing knowledge of what the Bible says, but we also know that of anyone claiming to know when, “the truth is not in them.” We might have as many generations ahead of us as behind us in this fallen world. It’s that possibility we invest in, and we stand at an important juncture in the future lives that will come from us. A focus on Jesus provides an insurmountable lead over whatever the world says is important when our students graduate.
On Grandparent’s Day, our Head of School told attendees that his ability to stand before them was a result of the known prayers of his family through many generations. What a powerful remark—we likely don’t spend much time thinking about our offspring we won’t see. Mr Cooper blessed many in that encouragement: the fact his family had no way of knowing the result of praying but did so trusting God would cover those coming after them.
The fact God has placed me in Stewardship at a Christian school a little over a decade removed from the staunchest mentality that I was not equipped to lead another generation is nothing short of a miracle .
It’s sharing that supernatural occurrence—one that has kept me from missing out on amazing joy—that I cherish most of all. It is what excites me most about being a part of rebuilding community at Front Range Christian after the long separation. Our Generosity for Generations(G4G) event next spring was promoted at the Thanksgiving Gathering last week, and maybe you bought a ticket there. If not, I pray you feel a sense of connection to your multitude of offspring and purchase several, or volunteer for this April Fool’s day Gala. Thanks for understanding that all we have belongs to God, and we are called to be good stewards.
