LEARN – EXPERIENCE – CONNECT
Academic Practicums are designed to be an extension of the classroom. These cross-curricular experiences focus on subjects such as STEM, social studies, humanities, or the arts. Through memorable hands-on experiences, students participating in these practicums have the chance to engage in Christian scholarship and foster a genuine love of learning.
STEWARDSHIP – SERVICE – CULTURAL ENGAGEMENT
Advocacy Practicums are an extension of our GO! program. The goal is to provide students with opportunities to live out Jesus’ command to love God and love their neighbors in both local and global settings. On advocacy practicums, students will engage in discipleship through stewardship and service in order to become culture makers for Christ.
ADVENTURE – CHARACTER – COMMUNITY
AWE Practicums are an extension of the FRCS Adventure and Wilderness Experiences (AWE) program. Students focus on community building and character development while being active in various adventure experiences and challenges.
Important Note for Parents
If your student has a medical condition that may require an intervention (ex: diabetes, seizure disorder, fainting), please consider whether retreats or practicums at altitude are in their best interest. If accommodations need to be made to attend the practicum, retreat, or AWE of choice, please check in with the school nurse to be sure this is communicated with the chaperones so we can care for your student well.
About Practicum at FRCS
Practicum is a unique, week-long, annual part of the FRCS instructional program in which students grades 7-12 participate. Practicum provides students with the opportunity to venture out of the traditional classroom and enhance learning through experiences.
Each Practicum experience focuses on the areas of Academics, Advocacy, and AWE (see descriptions in the accordion for more information). All Practicum experiences are designed to train and equip students to better become culture makers for Christ.
Practicum experiences are led by FRCS staff members or adults approved by FRCS administration.
