Dear Elementary Families,
With a new school year comes change. One of the changes for this school year is the elementary drop off schedule on Tuesdays, beginning August 17. Elementary is adopting the Jr/Sr High model for a late start on Tuesdays. Throughout the school year, on Tuesdays only, please drop off your elementary students at 8:15am. Classes begin at 8:30am. All other days through the week will remain the same: students can be dropped off starting at 7:40am and classes begin at 8am.
Why are we initiating a late start on Tuesdays?
There are several reasons:
- Staff meetings can be moved to Tuesday mornings when teachers are fresh rather than have them stay after school when they’re tired and struggle to focus.
- Teachers have more time to collaborate in their grade teams, improving communication and preparation time for staff.
- Teachers pray together and spend time building community amongst themselves.
- Several parents have expressed a desire for Elementary and Jr/Sr High to be on similar start-time schedules to make it easier for them to drop off their students when they have one or more at both campuses.
For their safety, students may not be dropped off before 8:15am on Tuesdays. We recognize that this may be challenging for some families. We are letting you know now, so that you can explore options to help make it easier. For example, you might consider carpooling with other FRCS families. For some, it may also be possible to make arrangements with your employer for you to have a late start on Tuesdays, as well. If, however, you’ve exhausted all options and you simply cannot bring your student at 8:15 on Tuesday mornings, please email Lisa Newell at . She will work with volunteers to arrange for student supervision while teachers are in their staff meetings.
This is a big change for the elementary, but we are confident you and your student will notice the benefits to our teachers and your child’s experiences as the year progresses. Thank you for your flexibility. Please let us know if you have any questions.
In Christ,
Dan Sarian
Elementary Principal
