We believe the arts, and drama most specifically, provide one of the greatest learning tools as students experience history, culture, literature, and human relationships by bringing it to life on the stage. It is also a powerful tool in shaping young men and women to be confident individuals who can speak, sing, and perform with poise. Participation in the performing arts builds patience, perseverance, teamwork, and personal skills that prepare any student for the future in any field.
Fall Play
Each Fall, the FRCS Fine Arts Department presents a play. The cast is limited to high school students, though junior high students are welcome to assist on stage/tech crew and production teams (costumes, props, set design and construction, etc.).
Auditions are held in August and the show is performed in November.
Spring Musical
The musical is a highlight for the entire school community. Casting is open to junior and senior high students and elementary students grades 4-6. There are also many opportunities to be on stage/tech crew and assist on a production team (costumes, props, set design and construction, etc.). The musical also features a live orchestra which includes parents, staff, and other community members.
Auditions are held early January and the performances are in April.
ProductionsClasses
Drama and Speech classes are available at the junior and senior high levels. Students in junior high take one semester of drama each year and perform a play at the end of their 8th grade semester. All senior high students take one year of Speech and have an option for a year-long elective in drama/improv each year.
Please see the course catalogs (Junior High and Senior High) for more information.
