On Friday, April 1, FRCS 8th grade students shared what they value outside of school, what they are interested in learning, and what passions they have. It was an exciting and inspiring experience for everyone involved, and we learned much about our students and what they are capable of doing on their own!
Many presentations were not recorded, but we are able to share a few with you. In addition to these projects, students shared a dance they choreographed, talked about how military strategies have changed over time, explored specific battles in detail, and much more! The following presentations are shared with permission from the students and their parents; they are not listed in any particular oder.
These project represent just a small taste of the day. We look forward to many more amazing presentations over the coming years!
Original Songs
Samson started learning to play guitar just one year ago. For his Genius Hour project, he wrote and produced two original songs (with a little help from Mr. Jardon) which have been posted to SoundCloud. Give the two songs a listen, and if you have a SoundCloud account, consider following him.
Moral Philosophy and Jesus’ Ethical Code
Bethany decided to explore the connection between moral philosophy and Jesus’ ethical code, creating a fun video to share her findings.
Watercolor Painting
Amy shared the process of creating a beautiful watercolor painting (note, the video has no sound).
Playing Piano
Caleb recorded himself playing Solfeggio in C Minor by Luca Pasini on the piano. You can listen here
Cello Composition
Tobin (with a little help from his cello teacher) composed a modern song for the cello. You can listen here
Meaningful Music
Kaelah shared her journey to learning and loving to play piano. You can see her slide presentation here (one slide has a link that when clicked, shows a video of her playing the piano).
