What I love most about FRCS is the sense of family among the faculty and staff. When students arrive, they become a part of the family, too. People are willing to serve one another and do what needs to be done to make things run smoothly at FRCS. I genuinely enjoy being around my colleagues, and I feel that my work at the school is more a calling than a “job.” I believe that FRCS truly seeks to put the Lord first in all decisions and that as a result of this, the people who work there become brothers and sisters in this calling. I enjoy praying for the entire FRCS community and keeping in touch with students and their families even years after they have graduated.
Five books, other than the Bible, that have impacted my faith or career.
- The Left Behind Series by LeHaye and Jenkins (this series really inspires me to live for Christ and not the minutia the world throws our way)
- The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (I love fantasy and science fiction books, and I feel that this trilogy really helps me face daunting tasks as I am aware of the final prize that awaits all who work for the Lord)
- The Incarnations of Immortality Series by Piers Anthony (this is NOT a Christian series of books, and I read it when I was not a believer, but I find the exploration of the truth of God and man in this series to be fascinating)
- Institutes of the Christian Religion by John Calvin (a stupendous work that really helped me understand Christian doctrine)
- Discourse on the Method by Rene Descartes (this philosophical discourse was a key part of my conversion to Christ)
I have 12 wonderful children that I love spending time with (as well as an amazing wife!!). I am a Senior Pastor at Harris Park Bible Church (in Bailey), and if I have time left, I LOVE to read (generally science fiction and fantasy), and I love to play with electronics and computers. I also like games, video games, racket sports. swimming and chess.
Many people ask me why I have so many children. My answer: a calling from God. I was not saved until late in my 20’s. I even had two children and was married before I acknowledged Jesus as my Lord and Savior. After I was called, the very first thing He told me in prayer was that He wanted to be in charge of the number of children I would raise. I love the Lord and obey Him as much as I am able to, and in this matter, it has been a truly amazing walk of faith and joy. I can truly say that the call of the Christian is a radical call, but one filled with many rewards in this life and the next!
