Teaching in a Christian environment gives me the freedom to be who I am as a child of God. At FRCS, it feels like a team, where we teachers can pray together at any time. What keeps me energized year after year, though, are the fun and genuine students! We laugh together, pray together, and live life together. And I would be amiss if I did not mention my love for directing our plays here. We work and play together (staff, student, parents) as a family and before we know it, it is show time and everything comes together beautifully!
Five books, other than the Bible, that have impacted my faith or career.
- Knowing God by J.I. Packer
- Decision Making and the Will of God by Garry Friesen
- The Reason for God by Timothy Keller
- The Jesus Creed by Scot McKnight
- Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
During the summers, I enjoy gardening. With all the time I spend in the yard, one would think Better Homes and Gardens would be knocking on my door to take pictures for their magazine. The problem is, I don’t know what I’m doing most of the time. I really just like playing in dirt. I teach the oral reading of Scripture at my church and am often called upon to read for our worship services.
One snack that is hard for me to resist is Dove Dark Chocolate! Just writing this brings out my passion. It’s a good thing I have a stash! Neither my husband nor our three children ever complained once about evening meals of corn dogs and pizza during all the play seasons. It’s a good thing because, Lord willing, there are many more seasons to come!
