There are so many things I love about FRCS. Having been a student here, I still benefit from the relationships I built with teachers who took the time to disciple me. I love that I am now able to build relationships like that with my own students — relationships that are more than just being their teacher. More than anything, I love the community we have here. I have been blessed many times through the caring hearts of our parents and often times by the students themselves.
Five books, other than the Bible, that have impacted my faith or career.
- Through Gates of Splendor by Elizabeth Elliot (I read this book for the first time in junior high. My faith was very early in its journey and this book inspired me to my core. I had not realized that anyone could dive so deeply into their faith and be so willing to follow God even to the ends of the earth.)
- Authentic Beauty by Leslie Ludy (this book was formative for me through my high school years while I was just beginning to realize the strength of my faith and what that meant in every aspect of my life)
- Windows of the Soul by Ken Gire (this book has challenged me to look for new ways to discover God by looking at every opportunity or situation in my life differently)
- Quiet Strength: the principles, practices, and priorities of a winning life by Tony Dungy (When I was a young coach, I was inspired by Dungy’s stories. Although I no longer coach, I still value Coach Dungy’s vulnerability in his writing; he is honest and open about real life situations. In this book, he reminds us all that despite our goals for our teams to be competitive and win, our purpose is much greater.)
Outside of FRCS you will most likely find me soaking up time with my kiddos and husband. I do love to spend time with my friends and family as well, especially over a cup of coffee, and I read as much as I possibly can.
As many of my students already know, one way to my heart is coffee, chocolate, or pasta!
