Front Range Christian School takes seriously its mission to partner with the Christian home to train children for life and equip them to impact the world for Christ. As our world becomes increasingly digital, it becomes imperative that this training of our students include digital citizenship. Not only is it important for students to know how to use technology, it is crucial for them to understand how to interact with others when using that technology. We give them the tools and environment to learn that digital citizenship is as important as citizenship in the physical world. With emphasis on integrity and godly behavior, students are given online tools to collaborate, interact, create, engage, and discover. Teachers act as role models both in the physical world and the digital world, while giving students hands-on opportunities to learn about the principles of technology that will help them long after high school.
As a part of partnering with the Christian home, Front Range Christian School is intentional about student security on our campus. If a student stumbles in writing an inappropriate email or text or attempting to access an inappropriate website while on campus, the incident is reported to our technology administrator who then notifies the principal. It is our desire to walk with the student through the learning process and focus on restoration and proper use above just punitive treatment. Consistent with our mission, this process strives to “train children for life.”
ECE
Our youngest students have minimal access to iPads owned by the school. Preschool and PreK students use them for no more than 20 minutes per week. Kindergarten students use them up to two 30-minute sessions each week to access LEXIA (for the development of oral language, reading, spelling, and writing skills), for a total of no more than 60 minutes per week.
Elementary
Elementary classes at FRCS all have access to iPads owned by the school which are available on carts. All elementary teachers are encouraged to use the devices as part of their curriculum to begin teaching digital citizenship at an early age and to take advantage of the interactive and engaging natures of the devices as learning tools. These devices are shared with other students, so cases and apps are all provided by the school.
Junior High
Students in grades 7-8 are supplied with a school-owned Chromebook that they may use during school hours. The apps required for each class are already loaded on the Chromebook. The device is completely supervised and managed by FRCS. Families may want to purchase a device of some type for use by the student at home.
Senior High
Due to FRCS’s use of Google Classroom as a Learning Management System (LMS), each student grade 9-12 must have their own portable, technological device in order to access online resources and submit assignments to Google Classroom. Devices can include:
- an up-to-date iPad (must be able to run at least the second most recent iOS)
- an up-to-date Chromebook
- a laptop running Windows
- a MacBook
NOTE: Students may not use a phone as a technology device for classroom instruction.
The device must be capable of accessing Google Classroom and Google Docs and should have a battery life exceeding 6 hours, if possible.
Google Classroom is an online learning environment for students that allows increased communication and collaboration between students and teachers, including creating, distributing, turning in, and grading assignments; sharing files; and more.
Front Range Christian School’s campus is completely wireless to support teacher and student iPads, Chromebooks, and laptops. All students and teachers are given user names and passwords with which to access the internet and Google Classroom. If you are a guest at FRCS, guest codes may be obtained from Holy Grounds Café for temporary use. These codes change frequently, and content is still filtered and monitored to keep our wireless campus safe for all to use.
Parents, please log into the FACTS Family Portal to get the username, password, and FRCS email address for your student. This is found under Webforms > Student Login Information.
For students grade 1-6 this is also where you can find their Barcode in order to reserve books from the FRCS Library.
Also in the Family Portal, under Resource Documents, is a document called Student Login Information (there is one for elementary students and one for Jr/Sr High students). Print this document for you student (grades 5-12) so he or she will have information about the different systems we use at FRCS.
Grades 5 and up will use this information regularly at school. If you have any questions, please email .
